Beautiful hot and sunny day today in Toronto. I know that for many 32 degrees celcius is too hot. And I must admit that I would not want to be outside for too long today. But I love the hot weather. It just seems as if things are more ‘alive’ during the warm weather. People are out and about. Children are playing. And more dogs are around walkng about with their ‘father’ or ‘mother’; enjoying their life too.
A few weeks ago we had the Asi Wind lecture and workshop. Both were very well attneded. And I am very grateful for the good attendance; especially during these still tough economic times. And those who did attend were treated to a wonderful lecture. I did not know much about Asi Wind. All I knew was that Ben Train highly recommended him. Ben has been very consistent the past few years organizing and suggesting strong lecturers. And he hit another home run with Asi Wind. Thanks Ben!
The ‘Browser’s Den of Magic’ was owned and operated by Len and Bernice Cooper from 1975 until 1995. And since back in November 1995 when I took over the business I have seen a lot of young boys and teenagers grow into young adults. Many of them I still see and some have moved on and are busy with their lives. And a few still visit me very regularly. One in particular is Shane Cobalt. Shane is a very serious magician. And like many of our customers he loves playing cards. On July 18 Shane is giving a workshop on the Zarrow Shuffle. I am so pleased that we only have two seats of the twelve spots available. Those that attend will not only be taught by Shane all the fine details of this tough false shuffle. But they too will have a real treat in seeing him perform it! Shane does the best Zarrow Shuffle that I have ever seen live.
This past weekend we had our Magic Club on Saturday afternoon. It was nice to see such nice customers and friends Debra and Sammy, Sonum, James Fulford, and others. And on Sunday the fourth of July was the first time that Browser’s Den was open on a Sunday for other than a special event. Here too I was very pleased to have Mark Lewis, James Fulford, Chris Westfall, Ben Train, Alex Kazam, Jonathan drop by. Our hours Sunday are 12noon until 5pm. I will try staying open on Sundays for a few months. And then if it is not really worth it we will go back to our normal shop hours.
We also have a big lecture at the end of the summer, Sunday August/29…The BUCK TWINS. Full details will be up on our site over the next couple of days. A major big thank you goes to LEE ASHER and MAGIC MIKE SEGAL for making this possible.
Wishing you all the best-Jeff Pinsky
